Singing-sensation Sanchez and Clarendon-born, Miramar Commissioner Fitzroy Salesman head list of honorees as Florida celebrates Jamaica's 43 rd year of Independence
Amidst pomp and pageantry, the annual gala event celebrating the 43rd anniversary of Jamaica's Independence was held in August, 2005. The Premier Independence Ball, an annual fund-raising event, was hosted by South Florida's foremost charitable organizations: The Jamaica United Relief Organization, Members Only Social Club of Miami, Cornwall College, and Immaculate Conception High School Alumni Association of Florida. The elegant affair took place at the signature Grand Ballroom in Davie, situated between Fort Lauderdale and Miami .
Special recognition awards went to Sanchez Kevin Jackson from the four groups hosting the event. Presenting the award on behalf of JURA, President Joan Seaga Gonzalez thanked Sanchez for the exceptional donation of his time and talent to the event and congratulated him for representing Jamaica with his positive attitudes internationally.
In his acceptance speech Sanchez thanked his fan and supporters worldwide for their ever present support and lauded the organizations for there selfless efforts in helping the less fortunate and rising to the occasion in times of need and disaster and helping to improve the lives of so many.
Dance music was provided by Mark Sanfillipo of Majic and the versatile 50/Fifty Band from Jamaica, Proceeds from the event will go to all four charity organizations to help continue their relief efforts to various organizations, institutions, individuals, medical missions, educational, events and projects.
